Thank you We sneak College one oh one making a
- 00:08
list How many schools would you say you should have
- 00:12
on your final big list that you're going to narrow
- 00:14
down from I'm generally at the end of sophomore year
- 00:18
even into junior probably about twenty to thirty perspective colleges
Full Transcript
- 00:22
and that's just the big picture that's the ones that
- 00:24
you could potentially think about applying to by the end
- 00:27
of senior year you probably want to narrow it down
- 00:28
to about ten to twenty schools at the very most
- 00:31
and then even by same mid october about ten to
- 00:34
fifteen is typically the average i think my brother replied
- 00:37
to three colleges but that was a long time ago
- 00:39
and i didn't apply to many more than that and
- 00:42
i find that the numbers seem to be growing a
- 00:44
little bit but it could become too big And so
- 00:46
by the time you're actually applying to the colleges you
- 00:48
don't wanna have to keep filling out essay after essay
- 00:51
and emailing the admissions reps and visiting also i think
- 00:54
keeping a smallest thing and it might like where you
- 00:56
out to apply to so many and you can't really
- 00:58
focus as well on The school that you're really excited
- 01:01
about So then maybe all of your application kind of
- 01:04
that's kind of the danger is you find yourself writing
- 01:06
too many essays and you're trying to answer too many
- 01:09
questions about why do i want to go to this
- 01:10
knowledge And you start sounding like you're not being genuine
- 01:13
because you're using a lot of copy and paste because
- 01:15
you just don't have time I think a lot of
- 01:17
seniors start to forget that they're actually seniors and they
- 01:20
still have homework and exams and papers do So where
- 01:23
did they find the time to do the applications On
- 01:25
top of that if you have too many then you're
- 01:27
starting to really delete your answers a little bit They
- 01:29
say that when you're trying on wedding dresses you should
- 01:32
not try on wedding dresses that you can't afford does
- 01:35
the same go for colleges if you know you know
- 01:37
that this college doesn't offer the kind of scholarships financial
- 01:41
aid you would need Should you not even look at
- 01:44
him Is it worth it It's absolutely worth it because
- 01:47
you never know what kind of financially they might actually
- 01:49
offer you here's what Happens is when you apply you
- 01:52
send in that application electronically and then there's a committee
- 01:55
of people so you have a least A couple of
- 01:58
people are revealing that they meet is a committee and
- 02:01
there are some admissions officers who are going to get
- 02:03
so attached to you based on what you've written your
- 02:06
teacher recommendations your extracurriculars and they might be fighting really
- 02:10
hard for you and literally go into the dean of
- 02:12
admissions office and say we need offer the student scholarship
- 02:16
but you're not going to know that until you actually
- 02:17
apply And so i think if you visit that college
- 02:20
you just keep your mind open that there might be
- 02:22
a possible scholarship in there for you So colleges they're
- 02:25
not winning that's very true Yeah many way many fit
- 02:28
Okay you should have twenty to thirty prospective colleges by
- 02:33
sophomore junior year You should have ten to twenty prospective
- 02:38
colleges by your senior year You should have ten to
- 02:42
fifteen prospective colleges by mid october of your senior year
- 02:48
Be careful to balance your time between school and applications
- 02:52
They can't get a lot of seized their your senior
- 02:53
year Please applied to schools even if you're unsure whether
- 02:58
you'll receive financial aid or not Making a list and 00:03:06.783 --> [endTime] checking it twice
