About Me

Intro

I spend a lot of my time cheering my fellow ladies on in whatever they're doing—chemistry or the clarinet, salsa dancing, or saving animals. We gals have to stick together, you know? That doesn't mean we can't party on occasion, but you can find me most often in the library, studying up on feminism, flowers, fabrics, or anything in between. I excel in science, and I'm especially good at the liberal arts (you know, history and writing type stuff). I've been BFFs with a lot of literary luminaries, like Zora Neale Hurston and Anna Quindlen. I'm part of a close-knit group of brilliant ladies.

I come together with my gal pals to hang out, but we also chill with the guys and girls across the street at Columbia University. In fact, I take as many classes there as I do on my own campus. I'm technically part of Columbia, but with a tradition that's entirely my own—and just as fantastic.

Name

Millie the Barnard Bear

Hometown

Concrete jungle where dreams are made of (a.k.a. New York City's Morningside Heights neighborhood)

Birthdate

October 7, 1889

Body Type

I've got about 2,400 students at any given time (I'm undergrad-only). My campus is teeny, but charming. Thankfully, we can stroll across Broadway to Columbia, which has a ton of space and lots of people, grad and undergrad.

Current Living Situation

Most students live on my campus, at least for their first year. The quad features four houses (alas, you're not put into them by the Sorting Hat) which are Reid, Hewitt, Brooks, and Sulzberger Halls. They're tiny, so you'll have to squeeze in with a roommate, but you'll bond with the charming chicas on your floor in no time at all.

When you're a sophomore, you get more housing options, including dorms that are located elsewhere in Morningside Heights. You can mix and match in suites and even the Tower.

Relationship Status

I'm one of the Seven Sisters, an awesome group of women-only colleges that run the Northeast (alas, not the world). Vassar's gone co-ed and Radcliffe was absorbed into Harvard, but there's still me, Mount Holyoke, Vassar (even with guys), Bryn Mawr, Smith, and Wellesley Colleges.

We also have a love-hate relationship with Columbia. They rag on us from time to time. Our Millie and their Roary the Lion have their relationship status as "it's complicated."

Politics

Pretty liberal, but there's room for all POVs.

You should apply to me if...

you're a fierce female that wants the best of both worlds: A close community with a great group of girls, and an Ivy League education.
