Stress

Make no mistake, this job is a busy one. You'll have multiple projects with multiple deadlines, some of which require working late nights or weekends. There will always be confused, stressed out students knocking on your office door, appointment or not. And, to top it all off, you'll have to de-escalate conflicts between students, faculty, and parents.

Summer break? Yeah, right. Many deans work year round (although with reduced hours in the summer). Students are like toddlers in a way; you're always doing something for them even if they aren't around. There's end-of-the-year stuff to finish, summer stuff to handle, and get-ready-for-the-fall stuff to do. It's sure to be a rewarding, yet highly exhausting, position.
