Stress

You already know what the stress is here. People are going to be crying in your office every single day. They'll be talking about losing their mom or their house or their favorite pet pig, Lil' Oinker. You'll get used to it, and through training and experience you'll acquire the tools to approach it objectively. But let's face it: if you're in this profession, you're at least part human. There'll be days that your work just gets you down.

Once you make sure your own affairs are in order, you may have to head to work, or even to the site of devastation to be on-hand whenever and wherever you're needed.

How do you combat this? Vacation. Not working weekends. Sabbatical. Take up a hobby. Most importantly, try to leave it all at the office. Work time is work time, but you time is you time. And no one earns you time like a person who spends their entire day giving other people a whole lot of me time.
