Stress

Housekeeping is hard work. Just ask anyone who's tried. If housekeeping weren't hard and time-consuming, there wouldn't be a lot of housekeeping jobs out there. And, yes, there are plenty.

Difficulty brings its own level of stress, and housekeeping can be pretty difficult. If you work for yourself and get injured or sick, the impact to your income is often immediate. And keep in mind, the odds of getting injured on the job are higher for housekeepers than lots of other occupations (source).

Just like any other professional, housekeepers must learn to recognize stress and do what's necessary to keep it from causing physical or emotional problems. Balance is important in life. If you work hard, you should also play hard. Making your own schedule means you'll have time to play. Spending more time with your family or pursuing a hobby are great ways to relieve stress. Sweep it away just like you do dust and dirt—no rubber gloves needed.
