Odds of Hanging On

Odds of Hanging On

You still pull out your vintage Operation game from time to time to remember your humble beginnings. You love all things surgical. You stay on top of new techniques and advances with continuing education and are becoming a specialist in general and open heart surgery. This puts you in great demand and you wouldn't have it any other way. In a year or so, you plan to go independent so that you can have more control over the number of days that you work.

Basically, if you're in it for the long haul, you are doing everything right to make sure you'll stick with this career.

However, surgical assistance isn't a long-term dream job for everyone. Constantly changing schedules, standing for long periods of time, and the risk of being exposed to infectious diseases can send a CSA looking for less stressful pastures. That said, if you find this career is very much your cup of tea, then with the projected job growth, you should have no trouble sticking with it for a long time.
