That's right. We're pushing for independent learning in our classrooms, and the Common Core Powers That Be want to see independent learning demonstrated. You'll nail this standard when your kids are using context clues to figure out words, looking up unknown words, or even asking a friend (in the right context). The goal is to encourage your students to be flexible learners, so if they can utilize a "range of strategies," they'll be language problem-solving heroes.
