Character Role Analysis

Juror #10/Juror #4

Even though these two guys hold out for a Guilty verdict to the bitter end, they have completely opposite reasons for doing so. Juror #10 is nothing more than a racist who wants to convict the defendant because he can't bear the idea of finding a non-white defendant innocent. Juror #4, on the other hand, is a cold and rational guy who doesn't care about anything except evidence. He's basically the scientist of the whole bunch, and he's so cold and rational that he doesn't even sweat in the baking hot jury room.

In the end, both Juror #10 and #4 change their votes to Not Guilty, but #10 only does this because he knows he's a jerk, and #4 does it because he's been swayed by new evidence.
