Character Role Analysis

Juror #9

Juror #8 makes a pretty great mentor, since he's wise and sympathetic and smart. But since a protagonist shouldn't be his own mentor, we're going to go with Juror #9 for this job. Juror #9 is the oldest member of the jury by far; he's probably in his eighties. He's also the first one to side with #8 when the question of a Not Guilty verdict comes up. Later on, he offers key insight into one of the trial witnesses (another elderly man) with a great speech about how difficult it is to grow old. There's no doubt that with his age, experience, wisdom, and kindness; Juror #9 is the kind old man who makes a great companion and mentor for #8.
