The Bad Beginning Chapter 11 Summary

  • The hook-handed man grabs Violet and swoops her up in through the tower window.
  • Count Olaf's tower room is pretty dismal. It's filled with dirty dishes, old papers, and tons and tons of drawings of eyes everywhere. Creepy.
  • The hook-handed man calls Count Olaf to let him know that Violet is getting into mischief, and Olaf tells him to bring Klaus up to the tower room as well. They can stay there for the night so they don't get into any more trouble.
  • The children spend the rest of the night trying to figure a way out of this mess, but all their ideas seem useless. Maybe Violet can just say I don't instead of I do when the time comes?
  • From the doorway, Count Olaf lets them know that if Violet doesn't cooperate, he'll just have Sunny dropped to her death. This guy's so evil that he even eavesdrops.
  • Count Olaf assures them that if anything goes wrong, he'll use his walkie-talkie to call the hook-handed man and tell him to drop Sunny's cage. This is looking pretty hopeless.
  • As Violet walks down the tower staircase, she grabs the banister with her right hand for balance and starts to think. Come on, girl—you have to get everyone out of this pickle.
