Shadrach "Shad" Yale Timeline and Summary

Shad treks out to Newton to bring back some papers and hopefully news on the war front.
During their sleepover, Shad begins to teach Jethro about the war and what is necessary to win—and also asks Jethro to watch over Jenny while Shad's away fighting.
While at war, Shad sends letters home to the Creightons.
After much fighting and some letters detailing battle, Shad writes to Jenny preparing her for heartbreak.
Shad eventually is wounded during Gettyburg, causing Jenny to immediately leave home to see him.
Ross Milton writes to the Creightons that Shad will survive but has an extended stay in the hospital.
Matt and Ellen agree to let Shad and Jenny marry.
Shad comes home and surprises Jethro—both with his presence, and with the news that Jethro will come live with Shad and Jenny and get an education.
