Case description: Bast was seen at the front of the army as it battled in Nubia. Many civilians were killed, and the kings of Nubia want restitution.
Case status: Case dismissed. Bast was not actually present at the battle. The pharaoh's soldiers had her face painted on their shields, and standards (a kind of banner) with her image carved on the pole were carried in front of the army for good luck.
