The Vicomte de Valmont Timeline and Summary

Valmont tells the Marquise that he's too busy plotting to ruin Madame de Tourvel to help her destroy her ex by seducing his fiancée Cécile Volanges.
He professes his love to Tourvel, first in person, then in endless I'm-pouring-my-heart-out letters.
Irate that Madame de Volanges has been badmouthing him, he decides to go along with the plan to "educate" her virginal daughter.
He acts as a liaison between Cécile and her music teacher crush, Danceny.
Using a key to her room, he rapes Cécile.
They become lovers in secret.
He succeeds in convincing Madame de Tourvel he loves her and she gives in to him.
He leaves her after being ridiculed by the Marquise for falling in love.
Challenged to a duel by Danceny, who's discovered his affair with Cécile, he fights and loses.
Before he dies, he forgives Danceny and gives him all his correspondence with Madame de Merteuil to make public.
