  1. When Rinaldi visits Frederic in the field hospital after Frederic gets hit by a trench mortar shell, Rinaldi asks Frederic if he had committed a heroic act. Frederic replies that he didn't, that he was blown up "while [they] were eating cheese." Frederic's brief account to Rinaldi of the event isn't accurate. Analyze the event and Frederic's account of the event to Rinaldi in order to develop an argument about Frederic's (anti)heroism.
