King Henry VI Timeline and Summary

  • 1.1: After York storms the palace, Henry strikes up a deal with his nemesis. Henry will gets the crown for now, but after he dies, it will go to York and his kids. Margaret has a few choice words for her hubby when she finds out about this.
  • 2.2: Henry tells Margaret to give it up because there's been too much fighting and revenge. She doesn't listen. When Edward and his peeps come in to take the crown, Henry tries to speak, but no one listens.
  • 2.5: Alone on a hill, Henry watches the battle and gets sad about the death and destruction that is happening all around him. Then he sees a son who has killed his father, and a father who has killed his son. Henry laments the war.
  • 3.1: Two gamekeepers discover Henry in disguise and hear him talk of kings and queens. They figure out that he's Henry and decide to capture him so that they can deliver him to the real king (Edward). Henry's puzzled and upset that the people don't think of him as king anymore.
  • 4.6: Henry thanks the lieutenant at the prison for treating him well. After Warwick and George set him free, he appoints them governors of his kingdom for the time being. He plans to go off and live a life outside of the public eye. Little Henry Richmond catches his eye, and Henry prophesizes that Richmond will one day be king and put an end to the wars.
  • 4.8: Henry meets with some nobles and is upset when he hears York's name being praised in the streets. He always tried to be kind to everyone; how come they don't love him? Edward and Richard arrive and arrest Henry. To the Tower with him.
  • 5.6: Richard visits Henry in the Tower, and heated words are exchanged. Henry predicts that Richard will be hated by everyone around him. Richard puts a stop to all of this by murdering Henry.
