Stanley Yelnats Timeline and Summary

We first meet Stanley on a bus to Camp Green Lake. He's been sentenced to the camp for eighteen months for a crime he didn't commit. Not cool.
Bonus: Stanley's family is cursed because of a promise made to an old gypsy woman a hundred and fifty years ago.
When Stanley arrives at Camp Green Lake, he meets Mr. Sir and Mr. Pendanski and is assigned to D Tent. He meets X-Ray, Zero, and the other boys from D Tent. Everyone has weird names and no one is particularly nice.
Every day, Stanley and the other boys have to dig holes, but we're not quite sure why.
Stanley slowly befriends Zero and teaches this unlikely friend how to read.
When Zero runs away from camp after a pretty violent fight, Stanley follows him into the desert. And if that weren't heroic enough, he then carries his friend up a mountain to safety.
At this moment, Stanley feels happy for the first time he can remember. (And we, as readers, smile a bit.)
The boys decide to go back to Camp Green Lake and try to find a buried treasure, but in the middle of the operation, the Warden and the counselors appear with flashlights. Also, they realize that they're in the middle of a yellow-spotted lizard nest. Not good.
Just in the nick of time, a lady named Ms. Morengo arrives, and it turns out that she is Stanley's lawyer and he's been proven innocent.
Stanley and his family use the treasure to escape poverty and buy a house. And, of course, Stanley and Zero remain friends.
