Character Analysis
Despite the fact that he's sporting an eye patch, this guy's not a pirate or an ironic hipster. In fact, he’s just a normal film student who loves the same things that Isabelle and Hugo do—movies and the magic behind them.
He makes for a nice older brother figure for Hugo and Isabelle to turn to; he’s always willing to help them out when they need things (like getting into the movies) and when he catches Hugo stealing a book, he helps him pay for it. He even helps Hugo with all that research. Sometimes, you do need a grown-up’s help.
