Vee Sky Timeline and Summary

  • Vee is in bio class with Nora, where she is one of the most vocal joke-makers about the unit on human reproduction/sex.
  • Vee and Nora go to the movies to see The Sacrifice, and then they go to the library so Nora can write up her review for the school eZine. Vee trades barbs with mean-girl Marcie and sees Patch.
  • Vee doesn't drive Nora home after the library because she doesn't like driving in the fog around Nora's house, but she lends Nora her Neon.
  • Nora calls saying she hit something and then returns to Vee's house, where she spends the night.
  • Vee and Nora go to breakfast before school. They meet two hunky guys, Jules and Elliot.
  • Vee hatches a plan to find out more about Patch by having Nora sneak into the school records office to get a look at his file. To create a distraction, Vee does what any good lookout would do: She calls in a bomb threat. (Kidding, of course—calling in a fake bomb threat is basically the worst idea in the world.)
  • They go out to a Mexican restaurant where Patch happens to work, but Vee doesn't see him because he only goes over to talk to Nora when Vee is in the bathroom.
  • On Saturday night, Vee and Nora go to Delphic to meet Jules and Elliot. Vee tries to make Elliot jealous of Patch by hinting that he and Nora have a history.
  • Vee stays with Jules and Elliot in the arcade while Nora goes to get cotton candy, but when Nora doesn't come back, Vee drives around the parking lot looking for her and then leaves. Vee calls Nora later and finds out she's been with Patch.
  • Vee and Nora go shopping the next day. When Nora gets the feeling she's being followed, Vee concocts another one of her plans.
  • Vee wears Nora's jacket out of the store so Nora can watch and follow the stalker if he/she starts to follow Vee thinking that Vee is Nora.
  • The follower attacks Vee and she has to go to the hospital for surgery.
  • Nora visits a drugged-out Vee in the hospital. Vee thinks Patch might have been the attacker.
  • Vee's injury doesn't stop her from her scheming, and on her first night out of the hospital, she goes with Nora to the Borderline to prod Patch's coworkers for info. Vee reveals she's invited Jules and Elliot as well because she's been seeing Jules; she's even been to his house.
  • In bio class, Nora tells Vee about the article she found, linking Elliot to a girl's hanging death. She also mentions that it's weird Jules disappears/doesn't show every time the four of them are supposed to hang out. Vee sticks up for the guys.
  • Vee calls Nora all excited about the idea of going camping with Jules and Elliot over spring break, but Nora's not into the idea because Elliot showed up at her house earlier and threatened her. Vee takes Elliot's side and says that Nora is only wary of him because she doesn't want to consider that Patch could be the one who's been stalking and attacking her.
  • On the same phone call, Nora asks to borrow the Neon to drive up to Portland and do some snooping about Elliot's past. Vee offers to go if Nora will go on the camping trip. Nora decides to go alone.
  • Vee ends up going to Portland anyway to party with Jules and Elliot. She asks Nora to come meet her at the party, but she heads back to Coldwater with the boys before Nora can make it.
  • Vee calls Nora to tell her she's broken into the high school with Jules and Elliot to play hide-and-seek. Vee asks Nora to come play with them, and then Elliot takes over the phone, threatening to hang Vee if Nora doesn't come.
  • Jules attacks Vee in the school and hides her in the eZine lab, where Nora finds her. Nora makes a plan to escape, but they can't get past Jules, so Nora stays behind while Vee runs to call the police.
  • Patch calls Vee to say that he was driving by the school when he heard screams, went inside, found Nora passed out in pain, and saw Jules commit suicide. Vee doesn't buy it and thinks Patch killed Jules.
  • Vee calls Nora and apologizes genuinely for how she behaved with the whole Jules and Elliot thing.
