Character Analysis
Arthur is the man who tells Adam that Junior Varney stole his bike. When Adam passes him while looking for his bike, Arthur is described as a large, sweaty man with a thick Southern accent who calls Adam "Honey." He sits on his building's fire escape watching the world go by and complains that he's "stuck in a cage" (24.13). We meet him again in the hospital, watching Adam (this time silently) from behind a banister. Adam says Arthur "gives me the creeps" (31.20). While the hospital staff seems to always be kind to Adam along his journey, the same can't be said of the patients.
