- Shorty looks around, but all he can see is darkness.
- He hears a rat gnawing on someone's dead body nearby. Gross.
- Since he's not sure whether he's hallucinating or not, he tells us what he sees all around him: People are coming to rescue him, and pulling the debris off of him. Since he's still not out a while later, though, he figures that was a dream or hallucination.
- Thirsty, his mouth feels really dry and empty.
- He remembers back to when his sister was taken. Everyone insisted that he was magical somehow, but Shorty didn't get it since his sister was gone. Still, he heard it time and again.
- Somehow this would strengthen the revolution, people would tell him. Right…
- He thinks back to the earthquake and imagines Haiti being wiped out by an angry god.
- Then he pictures himself flying past trees and over Haiti.
- There, he can see someone busting some crazy moves on the dance floor.
- All of a sudden, the guy screams out to Shorty; his mouth foams, and he looks like he's having a fit.
- Shorty sinks lower and lower into darkness until he can't see anything.
