Character Role Analysis

Zoey Redbird

Zoey's our first-person narrator, and we follow her journey from the moment she's Marked until she triumphantly ousts Aphrodite as leader of the Dark Daughters. Poor Zoey constantly worries about not being accepted, and her snarky, down-to-earth commentary has us rooting for her and laughing along with (okay, and sometimes at) her. We want her to succeed because she's relatable, and also because we're pretty convinced that she's doing the right thing in standing up to Aphrodite—and when the book ends, we're reading to pick up the next one to see what happens to her next.
