Grandfather

Like many a fictional grandparent, Grandfather offers sage but cryptic advice to our main girl. He advises her to follow her own path, to create using her own words, and to trust her inner strength instead of using Society's easy ways out—he also introduces her to poetry, which ends up completely changing the course of her life. Grandfather's wise words come back to Cassia at each crossroad she faces in the novel, so though he may be dead, he continues to guide her and help her find her way forward.
