Omeros Chapter XXXII Summary

i

  • The narrator steps in to share memories of his mother. She reached old age and began to lose her memory, and he describes the home in which she lived, as well as the other elderly inmates who suffered in similar ways.
  • He has to remind her who he is, and that she has two other children, whom he names. 
  • Before he leaves, she actually remembers who he is and even the name of his father (Warwick).

  • He leaves his mother and walks through the town, commenting on the strangeness of the place after being gone so long.
  • He doesn't understand the language as well as he once did, but still feels he belongs.

  • Achille has been out on the sea and now sails back to shore.
