Character Analysis
There are more than 300 characters in Pnin. All with names. Yep, you heard that right. 300.
We could go on to list them all here, but we won't. The truth is, the majority of these characters appears only once and are mostly unimportant to the main story. You have people like the Clements, who are mostly notable for taking Pnin in and then kicking him out when their daughter returns. You also have people like Prof. Leonard Blorenge, the head of the French Literature department who neither speaks French nor likes literature.
While these characters are pretty interesting for the brief moments that we meet them, they tend to be flat and 2-D. In other words, they're not real, defined, people like Pnin, VN, and the Winds. So why bother? Let's move on instead.
