Book of Revelation Judgment Quotes

How we cite our quotes: (Chapter:Verse)

Quote #1

The rest of humankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands or give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk. And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their fornication or their thefts. (NRSV 9:20-21)

And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts. (KJV 9:20-21)

God is willing to fire a warning shot. He threw out some plagues and then left it open for everyone else (who didn't die in the first round) to repent. Unfortunately, these sinners don't seem to be catching on.

Quote #2

The nations raged, but your wrath has come, and the time for judging the dead, for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints and all who fear your name, both small and great, and for destroying those who destroy the earth. (NRSV 11:18)

And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. (KJV 11:18)

It's Judgment Day—break out the champagne. God's going to reward those who love and worship him properly… but not so much for those that don't.

Quote #3

[The angel] said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give him glory, for the hour of his judgment has come; and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water." (NRSV 14:7)

Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. (KJV 14:7)

God's judgment is inherently a fearful time. Did you make the cut? Will you be moving on to the next round in Paradise?
