- The Enterprise and Bird-of-Prey draw closer. Kruge orders his brand new gunner to target only the engines this time.
- Kirk and Sulu begin to see the distortion of the cloaking device. Kirk orders all power to the weapons, forgoing shields for a knock-out punch.
- Enterprise gets the first shot off and nails the Bird-of-Prey. Kruge's alien-dog-creature, um, thing dies. Somehow.
- Kirk orders the shields up, but the automation system is overloaded. The Bird-of-Prey hits the engines, and the Enterprise is a sitting space duck.
