Timeline and Summary

Matt lives it up as a loner.
He meets Ben, who up and steals Matt's rifle.
Matt plays hide-and-seek with a hive of bees. He loses.
Saknis saves Matt's life and feeds him some pretty tasty grub—in exchange he asks Matt to teach his grandson, Attean, how to read.
Matt and Attean see each other regularly, but don't exactly take a shine to each other.
Then Matt and Attean bring down a mama bear and party Beaver-clan-style.
Matt saves the pooch (Attean's dog) and wins over the grouch (Attean's grandma).
The Indians invite Matt to join the Beaver-hood, but our main man chooses instead to hold down the fort.
Matt's family finally shows up, and Matt's dad tells him he's the man.
Our buddy plans to tell his family all about his Indian bro, Attean.
