Character Analysis
Marie is Attean's sister, and she doesn't show up much in the book. Attean doesn't think much of her, thanks to her position as a squaw, but she's got moxie—she not only goes with Matt to free Attean's dog, but she's also fast and confident throughout the process. She reminds Matt of his sister, Sarah, and he wishes the two of them could have become friends.
