The Landlady

Character Analysis

This woman represents, for Harry, everything domestic, middle-class, and tranquil in life. She's got a clean, nice-smelling house, and takes care of him when he comes home after a wild night out, hung over and tired.

She kind of reminds him of her mom, and is very sweet to him. The landlady gives a little bit of stability to the novel, since everyone else in it is running around wild.
