The Da Vinci Code Chapter 44 Summary

How It All Goes Down

  • Langdon and Sophie hurry to enter the ten-digit number Sauniére had written down into the computer, but Sophie hesitates, feeling like the scrambled Fibonacci sequence is too random… and they only get one shot.
  • She types in the Fibonacci sequence in its proper order, and hits enter.
  • Eventually, a giant, industrial-looking crate appears on the conveyor belt.
  • Inside is a smaller, polished box made of rosewood. On the lid is a hand-carved five-petal rose inlay—which is a Priory symbol for the Holy Grail.
  • Langdon and Sophie both get excited that it could be the Cup of Christ (even though Robert already knows the Grail isn't actually a chalice), until they hear liquid sloshing around inside.
  • They open the box. Whatever is inside is not a cup.
