When Peekay is set up for a fight against a black pro in a black township, it turns out to be Nanny's son. Coincidence? Probably not. Gideon is said to be a Zulu chief, and his spirit has to fight the Tadpole Angel's spirit to see who will lead the people. He loses the match, but doesn't lose his spirit, which earns him Peekay's respect. They feel that they are brothers because they shared a mother, Nanny.
