Personification

Symbol Analysis

This is another like situation. Personification is one of those descriptions of an object that makes the thing sound or act like a person. It might have emotions or look like a person in some way. When it's not a totally literal example, personification is simply writing about an object in a creative way so that it becomes a temporary character in the narrative.

  • Lines 10 and 18: The musician is making the piano moan…but pianos don't really moan. It can't even really make a noise that can be confused as a moan. However, the sound of the piano makes the speaker feel like the piano is moaning.
