If you're the creative type, odds are you dream of quitting school and committing yourself full time to your craft. Unless you're Wallace Stevens. The poet, who was born on this day in 1879, nabbed two National Book Awards and a Pulitzer, but never quit his day job as an insurance lawyer with The Hartford. He composed many of his poems in his head on his lunch break.
