The TV show Frasier debuted on this day in 1993. It spun off Kelsey Grammer's erudite psychiatrist from the hit show Cheers, where the character had been introduced in the third season. Between the two classic sitcoms, Dr. Frasier Crane ruled the tube for a whopping twenty straight years. You'd think that would be some sort of record—and it is. Kind of. Frasier is tied with Gunsmoke's Marshall Dillon (James Arness) for the longest running character in prime time live action television.
