About Me

Intro

I'm sure the first thing you've heard about me is that I'm artsy. I love all forms of the arts, especially the humanities. My greatest interests are in English, art, music, and so much more. I love the arts, but that doesn't mean I'm not a fan of the social and natural sciences; in fact, I'm pretty good at those, too. I guess you could say I've got a well-rounded education.

But I'm sure you've heard all that already from lots of different schools. Hey, if you're not convinced, I have proof: Over the past few years, I've split into three separate colleges to show just how much the others interest me. If you're the brainy science type, I got you. We can have a good time. The arts and humanities are my passion, though, so if you're the artsy type, we're probably soul mates. Just sayin'.

I'm very open and welcoming, too. I get along with almost everybody. You shouldn't feel intimidated by me. After you meet me and get to know me, you'll see how diverse I really am. I have a lot to offer.

Oh, and one more thing: I can be very stubborn at times (especially during the winter). I guess that's just me being a Scorpio. What can I say? I'm unwilling to compromise, especially when it comes to education.

Name

I'm the Ranger Bear. Move over, Smokey.

Hometown

I'm not quite in Kenosha, but I'm not in Racine either. I'm in a place called Somers. When you finally find me, you'll notice I'm surrounded by a lot of nature. Makes sense, since I'm very close to Petrifying Springs Park. During the changing seasons, you'll be amazed at how gorgeous my campus looks, especially around finals time when you're stuck in class. Heh.

With nature comes animals, and I love animals. Of course, with all of the trees around me, there are adorable squirrels and chipmunks everywhere. I even have a few deer, but you'll never see them during the day. What you will see, though, are the gaggles of geese that live around me. These bold geese will greet you in the parking lot, outside the window of the library that you're studying in, and even on the sidewalk in between classes. Seriously. Even if you can't see them, you will hear them.

Birthdate

1968

Body Type

I've got a real slim build here. I'm not bulky, but I'm not underweight either. My population is about 4,578 students and 4,450 of those are undergraduates, so you'll notice that I don't have a big graduate school program at all.

Size doesn't matter, though—especially when it comes to me. You'll get to know me a lot better, and definitely build a better relationship. I tend to only increase in size right at the beginning and right at the end of each semester.

I may be small, but I'm mighty.

Current Living Situation

Okay, here's where I can probably win you over. First year students don't have to stay on campus their first year here. In fact, more students commute here than any other college in Wisconsin's college system. I just saved you a bunch of money telling you that.

However, I do understand that some of you are not within driving distance of me, so luckily I have not one, not two, but three places on campus for you to stay:

Ranger Hall is your typical traditional campus residence, only better because it's mine. It can hold up to 410 students, and as an added bonus, I even have single rooms available for those who value their privacy over cheap rent.

For those of you don't mind having roommates, branching off the campus I also have seven apartment buildings, and they vary from six to ten four-bedroom apartments.

Last, but certainly not least, back in 2009, I had the Pike River Suites put in, which can hold about 250 residents, and it's basically your own house; you get a lounge, a kitchen, and a study area. It's a pretty sweet setup, if you ask me.

Relationship Status

Like I've said before, I'm one of the smaller colleges here in Wisconsin; I'm not even named after the town I'm in. Those other colleges think they're better than me because they're bigger and have more to offer students.

Like, don't even get me started on Carthage. Yeah, Carthage. He thinks he's better than me because he's a snooty private college located nearby. He may be a private college, but I still have more to offer than he does. Trust me.

Politics

I'm a liberal arts college. I think that tells you my views. But just because they're my views doesn't mean I won't accept you if you disagree with them.

You should apply to me if...

you think size doesn't matter, you're a huge fan of geese, and you don't mind the winter weather. If you can get past those things, we'll get along just fine.
