So now we have TWO x's to manage...

...otherwise, the algebra is pretty straightforward.

Start by adding 5 to both sides and we get 3x is less than x plus 12.

Now let's subtract an x from both sides and we get 2x is less than 12.

Divide both sides by 2 and we have x is less than 6 - the answer is D.
