Hello, and welcome to the University of the Pacific!

00:06

I 'm Powercat the Tiger, University of the Pacific’s mascot, and your official tour [Powercat talking]

00:11

guide.

00:13

We’re straight outta Stockton since 1851.

00:18

Stockton, California that is.

00:20

But before you bring your boogie board and start calling people brah, we’re actually [Man carrying boogieboard on beach]

00:24

in the northern half of the state.

00:26

Which means we’re chilling in chilly weather by the time fall and winter roll around…sorry, [Man skiing down slope]

00:31

no endless summer to be found here. But hey, we’ve got everything you could

00:35

possibly want in a place to live…pretty buildings, pretty people, and a pretty sweet

00:39

view.

00:39

We’re a good size…with about 3,900 undergraduates and another couple thou on campus for grad

00:44

school.

00:45

We’re a cozy crew, so if you like making new friends, this just might be the place [Girls by fruit cups]

00:49

for you. We like our undergrads to live on campus for

00:52

the first two years. [Student in dorm]

00:53

Be sure to purchase your cool band posters now, because dorm life is the norm here.

00:59

If you stick around, there are sweet living options for upperclassmen. We’re talkin’

01:03

a personal bathroom and full kitchen. [Man holding toilet roll]

01:08

And trust me, once you've showered in flip-flops for a year, a personal bathroom will sound

01:13

pretty darn sweet. We also have a pretty popular Greek life,

01:16

so if you feel like emulating the Brady Bunch, you can build yourself a whole new community

01:20

of brothers and sisters.

01:22

Socially, there’s always something going on at Fraternity Row or Sorority Circle, and [People outside socialising]

01:26

it usually ain’t potato sack races. But before play comes work, right? So what [Man in potato sack]

01:31

do we have in the way of academics?

01:32

We have a great dentistry school. So what if cleaning teeth don’t make you smile. [Students performing dental care]

01:36

You can still date a dental student and get some free floss out of it.

01:40

Plus, our pharmacy program is far out. We’re like Walter White if he made better life decisions. [Walter White with piles of cash]

01:48

If those don’t tickle your fancy, we’ve got plenty of options.

01:51

We’ve got majors in the business, science, and education fields.

01:55

So if you wake up and get to work, we can help your dreams come true. [Man sleeping in bed]

01:59

And speaking of dreams, we here at the University of the Pacific have hoop dreams.

02:04

How can we not? Our city’s practically named after John Stockton, who sports one of the [John Stockton appears on basketball court]

02:08

greatest talent-to-short-shorts ratios of all-time.

02:13

For real though, our men’s basketball team can play. [Man dribbling basketball]

02:16

Just like that one Siegfried & Roy cat, our Tigers can’t be tamed.

02:20

Stockton is also home to minor league hockey and baseball teams, which can make for a fun

02:23

change of pace.

02:24

And if you like to play, but you're not quite good enough to be a division one athlete…all [Man alone on basketball court]

02:28

is well.

02:29

We have intramurals galore. Everything from softball and flag football, to the most ultimate

02:34

of Frisbees. It’s just all-around fun times on campus.

02:37

We even have our own movie theater. [Shmoop video playing in movie theater]

02:39

If you’re more the Dora the Explorer type, there are options to expand your horizons.

02:43

San Francisco, Sacramento, and Napa are all just a drive away. [Man pointing to areas to drive to]

02:48

We support spontaneity at the University of the Pacific.

02:50

That’s why we’re such big jazz fans.

02:53

One of the cooler things we do each year is host the Brubeck music festival, which honors [People on stage playing music]

02:57

the music of Dave Brubeck, one of our most notable alumni.

03:01

The bottom line is, we’ve got boatloads of options for things to do. [Man standing on a boat]

03:04

So what do you think? Sounds like a four-year long dream date, right? Attractive exterior

03:09

with an intimate, yet fun vibe. [woman with tiger mascot]

03:11

We even give a four-year graduation guarantee.

03:14

The bottom line is…we want to see you in orange and black. [Boy wearing shades and orange pacific tigers t-shirt]

03:17

So prance out those personal essay skills, and get to telling us what makes you unique.

03:21

We'll save a sweatshirt with your name on it.
