Odds of Getting In

Getting your foot in the door with this career isn't all that difficult, but the process will be much easier if you can build the door yourself (hey-oh). Woodworkers who take the time to develop their skills early on through classes or training programs can have a head start on the competition and increase their earning potential.

Those who come into the field with little to no experience will likely need to start in the most entry-level positions, working alongside skilled woodworkers to develop their skills. Woodworker apprentices usually gain proficiency after about three years of on-the-job training (source).

With that under your toolbelt, breaking in will be easy.
