Physical Danger

Physical Danger

After seeing a certain Final Destination movie, we would recommend avoiding gymnastics like the plague. Since that isn't likely to happen, here's a word of caution: gymnastics is a dangerous sport where injuries happen frequently and can often be career-ending (source).

Some of the most common gymnastics injuries that can occur include sprained wrists and ankles, torn ACLs, Achilles tendonitis, herniated discs, spondylolysis, and underarm strains from thrusting your arms into the air too high (source). Okay, maybe we added that last one for good measure, but gymnastics can cause serious injuries if an athlete is not in proper condition or properly coached. The best way to get into the NCAAs is to avoid injury, stay in shape, and have reasonable limits to routines.
