"I'm not interested in caring about people."

The less I know about other people's affairs, the happier I am. I'm not interested in caring about people. I once worked with a guy for three years and never learned his name. Best friend I ever had. We still never talk sometimes.

Context

This line is spoken by Ron Swanson, played by Nick Offerman, in the TV show Parks and Recreation (2009-2015).

Outwardly, Ron Swanson is manly, anti-government, and overall misanthropic dude, but he shows a little bit of a softer side in "The Flu Season" when there's a flu outbreak in Pawnee. Think Contagion, but small town Midwestern style. And somehow the sickness brings everyone a little closer together.

Even though Ron claims to not care about other people, he has a nice chat with Andy Dwyer (played by pre-Star Lord Chris Pratt) about Andy's feelings for April (Aubrey Plaza). What starts as Ron trying to mess around turns into a heart to heart and a discussion about the Indianapolis Colts. Because that team isn't the same after Peyton Manning left.

When Ben (Adam Scott) decides to stay in Pawnee after he's inspired by Leslie's Michael Jordan-esque presentation while suffering from the flu, love and friendship is in the air at Parks and Rec.

Pretentious Factor

If you were to drop this quote at a dinner party, would you get an in-unison "awww" or would everyone roll their eyes and never invite you back? Here it is, on a scale of 1-10.
