Dancing in the Oobleck
- Man, once again, Bartholomew has got to be a total Buzz Killington. Seriously, Bart? You can't take one second to enjoy the goop? Or at least the fact you get to be around royal bed sheets?
- The King, on the other hand, reacts with all of his kingly ego intact. See him bursting with the pride of ownership: "I want every man, woman and child in my kingdom to go out and dance in my glorious oobleck!"
- See how sneaky the King is? He acts as if he's done this for the whole kingdom, but we know whom he really wants his subjects to celebrate.
- As in previous passages, Bartholomew is still very much under the King's control. He doesn't think it's safe to be running around in oobleck, but it looks like he doesn't have much of a choice.
- The last order from the King—"Run!"—is a great touch. We can feel the double urgency there: what it means to the King and what it means to Bartholomew.
