Case Description: Complainant (Tithonus) accuses Defendant (Eos) of cruel and unusual punishment. Eos fell totally in love with the young mortal and asked Zeus to make him immortal. Just one problem: Eos forgot to ask Zeus to make Tithonus young forever. So eventually Tithonus got really, awfully, painfully old, but he could never die.
Case Status: Case dismissed. Eos did the best she could with the whole situation. She loved him while he was young and took care of him until he shriveled up so badly that there was nothing left to really take care of. (Some reports say that she eventually turned him into a cricket or a cicada.)
