- Frodo makes it back to the boats and launches into the river.
- But Sam rushes to him, not wanting him to go alone.
- As Frodo keeps paddling away Sam (who can't swim) begins to drown… so Frodo has no choice but to pull him into the boat.
- Sam says he made a promise to Gandalf that he intends to keep. The two head out for Mordor together.
