Character Analysis
Pernilla, Jeannine, and Colette are the snobby women of the Ogilvie family. Pernilla is the mother, and Jeannine and Colette are the daughters (Chapter 7). Edward is one of the sons, whom Matilda's mother hopes Matilda will marry. (Yeah, right.) Colette contracts the fever and then the family flees Philadelphia. Their fate is describe later in Chapter 23, where it's revealed that Colette recovered from the fever, but in her sickness revealed that she had eloped with her French tutor, Louis. The family is a parody of the upper class; they are largely comic figures.
