In the last scene, Toswiah/Evie visits Daddy in the medical facility where he's recovering from his suicide attempt. They sit down together, and Toswiah/Evie realizes she's forgiven her father for their relocation; she asks him to tell her about how he knew he wanted to be a cop. Their relationship, like Daddy himself, is healing, and both seem to have accepted their new lives, realizing that their relationship will help them bridge the gap between the new life and the old.
If they've been haunted by their old lives up until now, finally the past gets a bit quieter for them. You might even say it hushes, and the future and their new lives take center stage.
