Rass Island
- Our story begins with our narrator, Sara Louise Bradshaw, giving us a description of her home on Rass Island.
- Rass Island is located in the Chesapeake Bay, and the entire village is just one old crab fishing town with all sorts of quirky little stores and homes standing on the water's edge.
- Louise tells us that the Bradshaw family has lived there for over 200 years, but once her mother is gone, there won't be any Bradshaws left in the village.
- That's a little sad, but Louise knows that neither she nor her sister, Caroline, could stay on Rass Island. Oh, do tell!
