King John Steaminess Rating

Exactly how steamy is this story?

PG-13

Aside from hearing about Lady Falconbridge's torrid affair with Richard I, there's nothing really steamy happening in King John, despite the fact that Eleanor and Constance are always accusing each other of having had a lover or two behind their husbands' backs.

But like most Shakespeare plays, King John is full of dirty jokes and the kind of racy wordplay that might leave you blushing (or giggling). Of course, you'll have to pay close attention (and sometimes check out the footnotes) to catch it all. That said, the basic rule of thumb here is this: if you think it's a dirty joke, it probably is. You can go to "Symbols: Phallic Symbolism" if you want to know more.
