Titus

Figure Analysis

Titus is another one of Paul's bosom buddies. Yeah, he had quite the entourage.

Not to be a downer, but…this letter didn't actually go to Titus. The Pastor chose Titus because his name packed some punch in the community. He was the kind of guy Paul would put his trust in and other Christians would want to follow.

Why? Well, the real Titus followed Paul all around the Roman Empire. When Paul made his way to Jerusalem to let the apostles there know that Gentile Christians didn't need to be circumcised, he took Titus (a Gentile Christian who wasn't circumcised) with him. Luckily, things went pretty well and Titus "was not compelled to be circumcised" (Galatians 2:3).

Whew. That could would have been a rough trip.

Titus shows up a couple other times in the Bible. In 2 Corinthians, Paul calls Titus "my partner and co-worker in your service" (2 Corinthians 8:23) and Titus brings back a good report about how nicely the Corinthians are shaping up.

Way to pull through for the boss man, Titus.
