- The narrator now turns back to George and Eliza’s story.
- Tom Loker, recovering in the Quaker house, says that Eliza and George should leave for Canada – the sooner the better. Why? Because there are correspondents in Sandusky, Ohio who are watching the boats for the two runaway slaves. Eliza’s description is out, so she needs to dress up to disguise herself.
- After three weeks in the Quaker house, Tom Loker is a changed man. He leaves the life of slave hunting behind him forever.
- Eliza cuts her hair off and dresses as a man. She disguises little Harry as a girl.
- Eliza, Harry, and George leave for Canada. They reach freedom at last.
