It’s generally the authors who are getting the recognition, while you’re more in the wings. But you’re okay with that. It’s not like you became an editor because you didn’t have the chops to make it as a writer yourself. (Cue violin.)

However, when a book or article you edited receives a ton of acclaim, you can take pride in the fact that you had a lot to do with it. It might be the author being invited to book signings or asked to make an appearance on The View, but you’ll be there in spirit.
